Congratulations to Liam, Kou, and our collaborators at the University of Cambridge, led by Harald Haas for the paper “Visible light communication using thermally activated delayed fluorescent OLEDs”. DOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.device.2025.100835

“This work focused on applying efficient thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) OLEDs to visible light communication (VLC). We show that high data communication rates exceeding 100 Mbps can be realised with TADF OLEDs. Central to this was making stable TADF OLEDs which could operate continuously at very high current densities.

This is promising as it shows that OLED efficiency need not be compromised to achieve fast communication. We hope that this work brings the implementation of OLED technology in VLC a step closer.” -Liam
